The lyrics for Niños unfortunately evolved after a school shooting. Working near this particular school, I often saw the children during their recess in the playground playing joyfully and it made me wonder where would the children play after today? And can the children play with the same amount of innocent joy they had before the shooting? This connected me back to an interview with a taxi driver from another film, street echoes, who said “emotional scars can not be healed.” 

It was from these sentiments that Niños unfolded with gratitude to Kelsey Mira and the team. We hope that Niños can be a momentary place for healing and a vehicle to encourage us to advocate for a society where kids can be kids and play without fear.
