These names—among too many others—trigger the anger, sadness, fear and trauma brought by the horrendous acts of racism in our society. The mere passage of time following such tragedies does not relieve the pain. Racial healing requires more than time.  It calls for deep conversation that builds our commitment to achieving a society of equity, peace and justice. 

 

We invite you to join an insightful discussion of the journey from racial trauma to racial healing in our three-part webinar series titled Racial Healing, co-sponsored by Digital Tapestries and The Care Plan, a Chicago-based organization that helps seniors and their families navigate the complexities of aging health. This webinar will offer a space in which to explore healing practices and an opportunity to share our experiences in a world in deep need of social change.  These events will also include screenings of Digital Tapestries’ short films. 

 

Founded in Chicago in 2015 by African-American aging care expert and LGBTQI advocate Jacqueline “Jackie” Boyd, The Care Plan, LLC is a passionate care consulting organization that offers guidance and coordinates resources to improve the health and care of aging clients.  

 

The Care Plan consists of a team of expert specialists who support aging clients and families with medication management, wellness checks, nutrition plans, informed care and wellness decisions involving pre and post-hospital care and more. While supporting the aging community as a whole, The Care Plan also works to serve as an intentional resource for LGBTQ individuals and communities through advocacy initiatives and educational programs on LGBTQ issues.

 

The Care Plan founder, Jackie Boyd has dedicated her career to support and improve the health and care of aging clients and marginalized communities across Chicago for over 10 years.
